Hero’s Journey – Backbending Workshop 

“What does the soul truly want is a story” ― Joseph Campbell

In this workshop we will be focused on spinal extensions. Open to all levels, with many options on the menu, we will build up this progression slowly and gradually, focusing on all key elements necessary to enter backbends with ease and safely. We will spend a good amount of time opening the shoulders, and increasing thoracic spine extension all the while protecting the more vulnerable areas of the body using stabilising alignment points, breath and bandha, and then move through a variety of backbends both those that strengthen the back body and those that increase the arch of the spine.

Practising backbends allows us to improve overall mobility and strengthen our back, shoulders, chest, hips.

This workshop will draw its inspiration in Joseph Campbell’s book “The Hero With a Thousand Faces” and in the end we shall do a writing exercise to help us get to know ourselves better, so please bring a pen and a notebook.

A Teachers Practice – Inversion Immersion

This Inversion Immersion is designed for Yoga practitioners with a steady and regular practice and Yoga teachers. We will work on key components that make up a steady base for staying upside down.

We will focus on building confidence and stability for balancing on our arms through strength and proprioception drills, partner work, working with props and supporting yourself on this long journey.

All classes with Karina Gusalova will be taught in English.
